They might not know what oil types blend well or offer low-quality beard oils. Like for example with parabens. Besides, beard oil is not cheap. Although you only need a few drops of it, prices starting at 10$ for a tiny bottle seem a bit high at first glance. If only there was a way to be able to make beard oil yourself … 😉 Well, there is! And it’s not even that hard.

Your Shopping List To Make Beard Oil

You can get the ingredients in health food stores, pharmacies or simply online. At first the costs seem to be much higher than for a finished beard oil. But since you can fill several vials with your mixture, you end up with a price per unit of only 2$ to 4$ per beard oil bottle. Furthermore that will make a good gift for bearded friends and family members.

3 Simple Steps to Make Beard Oil

It’s pretty easy to make beard oil yourelf with these ingredients. All you have to do now is to mix different oils together – and you’re done. Just experiment a bit and find a mix that you like the smell of and that does your beard good.

Just follow these 3 simple steps and create your own recipes:

1. Step – Carrier Oil

The first ingredients are carrier oils when you make beard oil yourself. Whether you only take one of them or mix several oils, is only up to your joy in experimentation and your taste. Simply fill one of your small vials with about 80 percent of your favorite oil or oil blend. For this make use of the funnel, which will make this effort a lot easier.

2. Step – Essential Oil

After mixing your carrier oils, add a few drops of the essential oil for the smell. Most essential oils have a pipette. You should use it to get the right dosage. Remember that essential oils are very potent. In a 30ml bottle you should not give more than 10 drops. With very strong scents 3 to 5 drops are sufficient. When mixing yourself you are free to decide. Find a fragrance combination that you like. I recommend you start with one carrier oil and one essential oil. Then just test the mixture on your beard – and refine it if necessary.

3. Step – Mix It Up

That was easy, right? When you’ve finished your mix, cover it up, shake the bottle and you’re done. As a final test, just put a few drops on your hand and rub it in your beard. It works best after showering, when your beard is still moist and your skin is fresh. That’s it! It’s so easy to make beard oil yourself.

Caution With Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is excellent as a moisturizer and is often used in beard oils. But the coconut oil that is available in shops mostly comes in solid form and has a high melting point of around 77° Fahrenheit (25° Celsius). For that reason it’s a bit harder to use. If you want to use it as a carrier oil to make beard oil yourself, you first have to heat it up. That way it blends well with the essential oils. After mixing, it returns to a solid state quite quickly. It’s best not to use a bottle here, but treat it more like beard balm. To use it, rub your finger a bit and your body heat melts it. Finally you can apply it to your beard like oil.
